you move at the speed of your heart. or at least try to keep up with
as it tirelessly runs marathon after marathon.
you tell yourself you'll get better after you're done getting worse.
no sense in going to all that trouble curing yourself until you absolutely
have to.
when you're young you look for reasons. by the time you're old enough
all you're looking for is an excuse.
it's not easy being young. or old. nor anything inbetween. we wear those
badges reluctantly.
when we're young enough we wait. revving our engines waiting for life's
traffic light to change to green. and when it finally does. when we're
old enough. we find ourselves resenting the speed.
the finish line loomng in the distance. and we're so afraid.
the beginning is too anxious. the end impossible to contemplate. and
the middle tends to get lost between them. even though it's all we really
are.
