10-01-05 saturday 11:37pm one eye in the darkness. nothing more. the night undresses. leaves its clothes on the floor. one eye that sees. one eye that can't. now that everything is gone. see nothing. see what you are. the naked night too dark to hold. so it holds you. and you disappear. to a place where life is only a shadow. and memory a song you hate. one box with nothing inside it. one box you still keep. it rattles when you shake it, but you look inside and it's empty. one box without a label. without contents. and yet, i can pick it up and i feel the weight of somethingt. one night amongst millions. naked as all the rest. without a face to see. without a voice to hear. without hands to touch. only smoke in the hallways where the pictures hang. stolen moments that don't really belong to me. only the taste of alone as it coats my tongue with its salty kiss. how thirsty it makes me feel. how many drinks it takes to quench. one child. born too soon. born too late. it's the same here in this place. this heavy parchment that is my shelter against. permanent inks dry hard and fast. bleeding through. making everything black. what is gone never leaves. every page they've touched keeps. an encyclopedia of goodbye showcasing its facts. one eye that sees everything i almost had. |
